Guild Board of Directors - Lyric Opera of Chicago

LYRIC OPERA
GUILD BOARD OF DIRECTORS

The Guild Board of Directors was founded shortly after Lyric Opera of Chicago opened in 1954. Guild Board members serve as ambassadors for the Company to identify and cultivate new audiences and to raise funds.

The Guild Board raises over $1.4 million annually to benefit Lyric Opera through personal and solicited gifts, Backstage Tours, and special events.

Students from The Chicago Mariachi Project perform at the Lyric Opera's Guild Board Summer Party. The students are from the Southwest side of Chicago including the Pilsen, Brighton Park and Gage Park neighborhoods. The Chicago Mariachi Project was officially founded in 2013 by Alvaro Obregon with Martha Alba and Victor Pichardo.

The Chicago Mariachi Project aims to elevate the art of mariachi and promote excellence in musicianship through education, coordination and support. Students from all over Chicago and nearby suburbs meet weekly in Chicago's Pilsen neighborhood to develop and maintain Mexican cultural traditions through mariachi music while developing as well-rounded musicians.
